The Pharos of Alexandria was one of the seven world wonders described by ancient authors. The Pharos was constructed by Sostratus of Cnidus und the kingship of Ptolemy I. in Hellenistic Egypt around 300 BC. It served as a fixing point for sea-faring people by relfecting sunlight and fire with its huge mirrors. The Pharos on Antikrates.net therefore serves equally as its ancient paragon as an anchor of orientation in the endless ocean of knowledge.
