Library of Alexandria
From Antikrates
|
The Library of Alexandria was a center of research in the ancient Greek world. It was established by Ptolemy II Philadelphos, son of Ptolemy I. (regent that issued the construction of the pharos), around 300 BC. Hellenistic-Egypt Alexandria had a law demanding from incoming ships to allow the creation of copies of all written material they had onboard, in order to enlarge the library's stock. The Library of Alexandria on Antikrates.net, equally to its ancient paragon, is presenting a collection of sources in several academic fields in order to provide researches with a list of recommended bibliographical references.
